In this episode, we commence with the third qualifier of Honolulu’s premier beat-making battle known as Beatroot. From there, we venture to the Manifest in Chinatown for a multi-band showcase featuring Nervous from Oakland, CA and local troubadours No Home, Rats and Cvltists. Just across Hotel Street from the Manifest is Nextdoor, whose “Art of Worth” album release party for Hawaii emcee Scholar featured such acts as Castle Park, 3 Lbs, Kahea Prem and J-Shiu. Also included are music videos by Nervous and Scholar and a delightfully zany animated quickie courtesy of Victoria Vincent.

I am a lifelong Honoluluan whose true calling is to tell the stories of others, whether through photos, film, video, audio or the written word. Here is a collection of my works – some previously published in periodicals like Billboard, the Honolulu Advertiser, Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Honolulu Weekly, though most of what you read or view here has never been seen before.
